experience of the vegetative state

When I was eleven or twelve years old, my maternal grandmother fell down at her bathroom, and she went to the hospital. At first, she could have talked, and felt where was painful or not. After a few days, her condition had been becoming worse, so she had slept deeply like vegetative state before she passed away. Before she had fallen down at the bathroom, she had some problem with her health, like high blood pressure, and heart problem, so these problems might have made her worse. On August 1, 1997, she could not have woken up from her sleep, and passed away. My mother and all of my family members were heard about the news wile we were having dinner, and my mother got a phone call from her sister in the hospital, them she stopped eating dinner, and went to the hospital. Next day, in the morning, I went to the hospital to see my mother and grandmother. After 3 days, we had a funeral ceremony.

Should terminally ill people be cut off life support?

Everyone has the right to do whatever he/she wants if the act is not harmful to other people. Even though someone is in a persistent vegetative state, he/she might want to die rather than live. Also, family members of the patient might hope to let him/her go. To keep the life of a person who is in a persistent vegetative state, would cost a lot of money because there is no certain time when the medical treatment will end. Also, the family members would suffer pain since they would see all the scenes that happen to the patient like trauma, which can damage the patient`s brain. It is sad both a patient and his/her family not to decide the patient`s opinion by his/her own will, but the patient could want to end the never ending sleep. If there is no possibility to revive at all, unhooking the respirator is the better way than keeping a patient`s condition.

Reboth Beach

I have been to Rehoboth beach yesterday. It was the first time to go there. Unfortunately, it was cloudy, windy, and felt like fall because the temperature was lower than before. We were disappointed to be cold because of the weather, but we changed into swim wear. There were a lot of people enjoying the summer on the beach. We were hesitant to go into the water, and one of us started to splash water. Annie was thrown in the sea for the first time, and Abdula tried to save her from the play, but he failed to do that. After 3 or 4 hours later, we moved to the outlet, and went shop for about 2 hours. In the end, we went to the other side of Rehoboth beach. There was an amusement park, so we took a ride there, which was very exciting. We had a great time in the trip, and if I have a time to go there again, I want to go there again!

Should Students Use Two Languages in School?

The number of people who immigrate to the United States has been increasing, which means the students who attend local elementary schools could have learn in two languages since the immigrant group does not understand the English language well. In this essay, I will look at some of the arguments against bilingual education in schools.

The first reason why I am against using bilingual education is that the United States` mother tongue is the English language. The main citizens of the United States` are Americans not immigrants. Although there are many immigrants from other countries, the citizens of the United States don`t make immigrants come to the U.S.A. Therefore, the students who go to local elementary schools have no duty to study two languages.

Secondly, immigrants need to study the English language. They come to the United States by their own will, so they should try to learn the English language. Also, they need to adapt to their new environment since they choose another country to live in. Even though the immigrant students have difficulties speaking in English, Americans do not need to learn their languages.

Lastly, we have to think about the students who do not want bilingual education in school. Some of the students might not want to study another language even though they have many foreign friends in school. They might wonder why they should learn another language for the immigrant group. In stead, the government could build some schools for immigrants, which could be a more effective way for both the immigrant and non-immigrant groups of students.

In conclusion, I disagree with the idea of using bilingual education in schools. Some people may not want to learn another language in addition to their own language, and there might be other ways to communicate with the immigrant group more effectively.

Should students study abroad when they are under 18 years old?

In Korea, many parents have sent their children abroad for the reason of education while the children are attending secondary schools. The parents think studying abroad will ne helpful to get into top universities and companies. In this essay, I will show some of the reasons why studying abroad is not always a good way for students under 18 years old.

First, the students who go abroad to study during their secondary education could erode the traditional values of Korea. The students might experience many things abroad as they mature during the ages from 12 to 18, which could affect their character building. Also, their way of thinking could ne affected because the students live in different circumstances than their parents, which might make some gaps between the students and their parents` points of view. Let`s assume that a student gains his/her goal successfully from an educational point of view, but what if he/she could not communicate well with his/her parents because of their different points of view? Can we say that the student gains his/her goal? I don`t think so.

The second reason why I am against studying abroad of students under the age of 18 is because they could fail to adapt their new environment if they are separated from their parents. For example, many parents want their children to get into top universities in the United States, so they chose schools in the East, like in Pennsylvania, for great schools. Students who come attend boarding schools since their parents may not go with them. As a result, the students live alone without their parents, therefore, their parents might not have as much control than the students were home. Some school officials say that it is easier to fail if students are separated from their parents.

Lastly, it is important for parents to understand an educational system of a country in which they want their children to be educated and to understand their children`s interests. Some Korean parents think that studying abroad is absolutely good for education, so they send their children abroad with no knowledge of the other country`s educational system. But there are many differences between Korean and other countries, for instance, students who want to get into universities in the United States should study AP courses while attending in high school whereas in Korea, students don`t need to study extra curriculums. If their parents have no prior information about an educational system, it might be hare for them to suggest what their children should do.

In conclusion, although many parents have chosen to send their children to study abroad when they are under the age of 18, studying abroad is not always a good way to increase the success a children can have. There are many unexpected things that parents should think about before they decide to send their children to study abroad. It is not too late to study abroad when the students are over 18 years old.

Before going to...

Before going to Woo Jae`s house in Wilmington, I didn`t want to swim in the pool. When I arrived at his home with my friends, I changed my mind because the pool was so wonderful and everyone ran into the pool. Everyone got together behind the house and prepared launch. Before going to the Woo Jae`s house, we went to a Korean grocery store to buy some pork, vegetables, and fruits. Lunch was a perfect Korean style because of pork with traditional sauce called Samjang which is Korean traditional sauce made from soybean and usually eats with pork.

After having lunch, we ran into the pool. Even though I couldn`t swim, Woo Jae threw me into the pool, so I drunk a lot of water with nose and mouth. But it was absolutely great time.

While swimming in the pool, we soaked a watermelon in the pool to refrigerate it. After 3 hours, we take it out of water and ate it all. It was really sweet like the sunshine.

"Doing Excercise" weekend!

I met Rob on Friday because of my presentation of speaking class. Rob is one of my American friends. We talk about how he chose his major and what he will do after a graduation.

Yesterday, I went to Vicent`s sports center to play golf and baseball with my friends but one of my friends got injured. So, we came back to the apartment, and we made him lie down and applied an ice pack to his knee. After that, we went to Maryland to play golf again. I played golf first time, and it was fun!

Today, we went to the flower market. It was different from Korean`s, because flower markets are usually very small in Korea and there are many kinds of flowers here than Korea. I think that many American have their own garden and they like to lay out the garden, so the flower market is big and has various flowers. Then, we went to the golf practice range again. After the 1 hour exercise, we were totally tired out, but we spent another half hour for playing baseball.
